Armbian Weekly Update Highlights Enhancements in Wireless Drivers and Board Improvements

The latest update from Armbian showcases a range of enhancements in wireless drivers, board refinements, and significant improvements to the build system. This week, users can look forward to the activation of rtw88 and rtw89 drivers for kernel versions 6.12 and above, alongside notable upgrades for specific boards.

Kernel and Driver Enhancements #

Key developments in wireless driver support include the activation of the rtw88 and rtw89 drivers for kernel 6.12+, along with an update to the RTL8812AU driver for kernel 6.14.y. A previous workaround for the RTL8812AU driver has been removed following successful upstream integration.

Board Support Updates #

Radxa Zero 3 #

  • WiFi extension is now enabled by default.
  • Upgraded to mainline U-Boot v2025.01.

NanoPi R3S #

  • U-Boot has been updated to v2025.01.
  • Board configuration has seen a cleanup.

Rock 3A #

  • Fixes have been applied to the U-Boot .itb build.
  • Code duplication optimizations have been finalized.

Odroid M2 #

  • U-Boot patches have been updated to v2025.04-rc5.
  • Patch naming has been refined without functional changes.
